Red Lion Hotel

FDS were appointed principal contractor to deliver the first phase enabling works to kickstart the renovation of a famous hotel in Henley on Thames.

FDS carried out the decommissioning of all services to the grade 2 listed property, which included tracing through the adjoining 13th century church. This was followed by a partial strip out to all bedrooms, suites, corridors, conference rooms and restaurant spaces. Key to the successful delivery of the works was establishing the relevant listed features and applying adequate protection in advance or storing them for safekeeping where applicable. Another challenge was the poor condition of existing pipework and base-build walls which meant that some elements of strip out needed to be conducted with utmost care and precision.

The works were completed by undertaking licensed asbestos removal within the loft spaces in which access hatches were utilised to run NPUs and vertical air lock systems.
