FDS were appointed as Principal Contractor by Stature London to undertake the enabling works at these 6 storey terraced properties. The works included isolating and making safe all mechanical and electrical equipment, followed by the strip out of all partitions, ceilings, finishes and services.

The aged nature of the majority of the finishes meant that the mitigation and control of dust was a key challenge. Dust cubes were installed on every floor in lieu of any natural ventilation. Further, waste was cleared from site on a daily basis to tackle the dust at source.

Another key challenge was the removal of waste on a busy main road with a bus station situated just outside the front door. FDS utilised a loading bay 30m down the street which was open for use in specified hours. Regular communication with haulage companies meant that the site team could move waste out and reserve a place for just-in-time collections.

FDS were rewarded for their timely completion of phase one with the award of further works to remove screed and plaster throughout the building.
