This works package commenced after a previous contractor had vacated site. FDS, alongside Main Contractor Parkeray, stepped in to complete residual strip-out of a disused 3 storey office block in Southwark. Remaining finishes and services were removed followed by significant quantities of masonry and block partitions. A masonry staircase spine wall was also due to be removed. FDS opened this up during the first day on site, leaving a natural and safe internal chute for demolition material. Dust was controlled throughout and at ground level plant extracted the material from the exclusion zone and transported to a yard where skips and grabs removed it from site.
The second phase of works involved enabling a new curtain walling and glazing to be installed at ground level and at parts of 1st and 2nd floors. Non-structural external cavity walls were removed in sequence with other trades to retain the security of the premises.
The progressive removal of the staircase spine wall was facilitated by cooperation with the client and scaffold contractor
